Open Word Perfect Files
Feb 26, 2016 I tried 'Open and Repair' but no luck. So if someone uses WordPerfect and they email files to someone (like me) with Word 2010, they should probably change the format on thier end to.doc (or.docx) before sending. Still seems strange that Word would not open a file in another format like that.
Another possibility is that the problem is Word 2010's File Block settings. At File Options Trust Center: Trust Center Settings File Block Settings, one of the check boxes is for 'Legacy Converters for Word,' and this might include the convertersfor WordPerfect.
In this instance, though, I would expect a security warning rather than an error message about corruption. I have got to believe there's a fix or a converter for this issue. 'open and repair': in the File / Open dialog, at the bottom there is an 'Open' drop down button. One of the drop down options is 'Open and Repair'2007 vs 2010: think of it this way, as time goes by, MS slowly drops off support for file formats that are obsolescent. Apparently they think there are fewer files in the newer WP versions than the old ones, so they still support the old WP formats but notthe newer ones. “I have seen impractical and improbable things accomplished.
